Liberty Subaru gives Love & Hope to cancer patients

For years, Liberty Subaru has stood as a pillar of community support through its partnership with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) and Advocate Condell Medical Center, as part of the Subaru Loves to Care initiative. This program is devoted to providing comfort and encouragement to cancer patients by delivering warm blankets, essential care kits, and heartfelt notes. On June 25th, the Liberty Subaru team made a heartfelt visit to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The day was marked by a generous donation of 80 blankets, 30 care kits, and nearly handwritten messages of hope from their customers. These items, collected during the 2024 Subaru Loves to Care campaign, were intended to offer warmth, supplies, and a boost of morale to those undergoing treatment. The visit had a profound effect on both patients and their families, showcasing the power of community support. This initiative not only delivers practical help but also builds a sense of solidarity and hope in the battle against cancer. Liberty Subaru’s commitment to this cause highlights their dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of those fighting cancer. Each year, Subaru and its loyal customers continue to show their belief in spreading compassion through every act of kindness.

Lost Dog Reunited with Owner!

During a thunderstorm Liberty Subaru employees saw a dog on the side or a busy road running along the shoulder. They immediatly pulled over, stopped traffic and spend over 1 hour coralling the lost dog away from the road and into a safe location that they could capture her. She was scared, cold and wet but she was safe. It ended up that she was scared of thunder and escaped the owners home during a thunderstorm, running over a 2 miles away form their home on the side of the road. We are so happy to have been a part of helping re uniting this beautiful baby with her owner.

"Neighbor Helping Neighbor"

On April 25th, our Liberty Subaru Team was excited to present our hometown charity, Open Arms Mission, with a donation check for $34,349! Over the past several years, through Subaru's Share The Love Event, Liberty Subaru has donated over $212,000 to this amazing non-profit organization, providing food and fresh milk for local seniors and families.

OPERATION WARM more than a coat

Helping others is a key to a strong community, which is why Liberty Subaru believes in helping to support individuals and families in urgent need. During the Subaru Loves to Help month, Liberty Subaru partnered with Operation Warm, a national nonprofit focused on connecting children with the resources they need to thrive. On January 30th, Liberty Subaru’s team members visited a local Salvation Army in Waukegan with boxes of over 200 coats, shoes and socks, and they helped to distribute this donation to the kids and adults in need. The Salvation Army was on a mission to make sure that every child in Lake County was warm this winter and Liberty Subaru was excited to be able to be a part of it.

Reach Rescue and Subaru Loves Pets

Reach Rescue, a non-profit animal rescue organization in Mundelein, IL, was so excited to be partnered with Libertyville Subaru in Libertyville, IL for Subaru Loves Pets Month this year. We got the ball rolling by planning and promoting our cross-over event with Subaru for Saturday, October 21, 2023 held at our rescue facility. Our Saturday Reach/Subaru event was attended by many and included the hard work of 36 volunteers ready to share information about our sweet homeless dogs to potential adopters. The Subaru event and publicity helped to facilitate the adoption of sixteen dogs. Due to our foster-based program Reach has weekly adoption events on Saturdays, so making this Saturday's event longer, bigger and better was our goal. Visitors were treated to freshly made popcorn and baked goods, balloon animals, Subaru giveaways and pictures under a balloon arch decorated in the Subaru Loves Pets colors. All throughout the month, our multiple daily adoptable dog posts on social media were decked out in the Subaru Loves Pets frames created by rescue volunteers. We also changed our cover photo to highlight Subaru’s initiative and feature one of our foster dogs, Sea Sea, who was one of almost 40 dogs we had recently rescued from a trailer home hoarding situation back on September 16. On Thursday, October 12, Reach Rescue was invited onto the Pet Rescue Spotlight segment on CBS Chicago Channel 2. Our Director of Marketing, Marybeth Stone, brought on a very special guest with her named Jazzy, to help shine a light on what a great dog she was despite being visually impaired. Jazzy had spent over five months in foster care, simply because she was blind. Everything about Jazzy was sweet as pie, and she was beloved by volunteers and Reach supporters alike. During the live segment, we promoted our adoption event with Subaru, encouraging viewers to attend. Jazzy was adopted just one week later to both the profound joy and bittersweet dismay of the plethora of volunteers who adored her. After 177 days in a foster home, it just seemed right that Jazzy would be adopted during Subaru Loves Pets Month!

Doggy Dip with the Mundelein Park & Recreation District

Our 2nd annual Doggy Dip event allowed us to enjoy the last dog days of summer with one of the best dog-friendly businesses around! Thanks to our annual partnership with Liberty Subaru, we were able to offer this free day at the beach for man's best friends and their owners. On the sandy side, dogs roamed the beach, splashed and played off-leash in the waters of Diamond Lake. On the grassy side, all dogs were leashed and ready to greet Liberty Subaru and other dog-lovin businesses for treats. Reach Rescue was there with some adoptable dogs to win your hearts and raise funds to keep rescuing and caring for animals without a forever home. Thanks to Liberty Subaru, we are able to continue to offer events like Doggy Dip to our community.

Their goal is Warm Feet, Warm Hearts for everyone. Liberty Subaru is proud to contribute to this great cause and donate new men and women's socks that greatly warmed the hearts and the feet of our neighbors by supplementing their weekly food.

LLS Hospital Delivery 6/22/23

I am a volunteer Community Outreach Intern with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society® (LLS) this summer, and today I was able to participate in one of the Subaru Loves to Care® deliveries. I was kindly greeted by three Liberty Auto Subaru employees when I arrived at the hospital. These employees demonstrated admirable passion and kindness throughout the event. We were lucky enough to meet several hospital staff members, from Radiation Therapists to Oncologists, who each shared with us how grateful they were for this program and our commitment. After taking a few photos and introducing ourselves, we took a patient care kit and a lovely blanket into the Infusion Center and met two incredible members of staff inside. These staff members, Ivonne Ordonez and Sandra Andrade, took photos with us and expressed immense gratitude. Upon learning we would not be able to enter the rooms of patients, one Subaru employee, James Flores, replied, “That is completely fine, we only want what is best for the patients and would not want to disrupt them.” James made his respect for their boundaries clear, which reminded me that we were there to help and that we must be cautious not to overstep or interfere negatively with any patients or the typical hospital day. Ivonne and Sandra apologized that we were not able to enter the patient rooms and deliver Subaru’s gifts, although they told us how appreciative patients have been to receive such thoughtful donations and that they are excited to distribute more of our kind gifts.

Subaru Love Sensory

Clearview Elementary school received a $12,000 donation which will fund a Sensory Room which includes: swing base with multiple adaptable swings for our students with disabilities, light covers, padded flooring, different sensory seating options, as well as other sensory materials. Sensory rooms are important to our school because they help provide our students with an area where they can explore and work with their sense in a safe place. Sensory rooms help teach children with autism and other behavioral health challenges to regulate their bodies in a way that allows them to achieve success in school. For example, using a sensory “snack” of vestibular movement (linear or rotary swinging) or heavy work/deep movement (through obstacle courses or gross motor movement) can help students to achieve a calming sensory effect. Improved focus and information processing can make a significant impact on their ability not only to learn, but in how they engage with their teachers and peers. This sensory room will help our students regulate and return to the classroom ready to learn which helps our school be more inclusive for all. We couldn’t have done it without you Subaru! Thanks for caring and loving all learners!

Community Commitment

GLMV Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization In Lake County. Not only do we serve our business community, but also are very involved with all four of our Villages. Each year Joe, Agi and the staff of Liberty Auto Subaru allow us to use their Subaru vehicles for several parades and our annual golf outing. It's important for us to be visible, and what truly helps is showcasing our involvement driving a new Subaru. Liberty Auto Subaru is always there for us and couldn't be more generous allowing us to use their Subaru cars. They are very community involved and we appreciate all they do for us and our four communities.

These comforting gifts were also accompanied by personalized messages of hope cards written by customers and staff of Liberty Auto Subaru. Subaru Loves Pets - Our House of Hope

When Covid hit in 2020, our Volunteer Base dispersed and took cover as most are seniors or young disabled adults. During their solace, they found ways to still get out, enjoy nature and get fresh air. Sam and Linda Frank have volunteered and fostered for us for years. During Covid they explored the various trails in our local forest preserves. In an early October outing, they came upon a small Chihuahua hunkered down, shivering, hungry, and alone with her tongue hanging out. They contacted Our House of Hope right away. She was never claimed by an owner. We named her Summer. Summer was approximately 11 years old, no teeth, mammary tumors, likely blind, and yet, the sweetest little girl ever. Long story short, Subaru has given her life. She has had the finest of medical treatment, is happy and so adored in her new adoptive home. This little girl is such a fighter and loves everyone. She just makes your heart feel good.

We appreciate the partnership!

Liberty Subaru / CTCA

CTCA was selected as the hospital 2 different Subaru retailers wanted to deliver blankets and craft kits to through the Loves to Care program. That is a testament to what a great facility they are.
