(EDITED 6/28/25). 45 more days have passed, and we STILL do not have a title for the vehicle purchased. That is 268 days since I paid cash for a vehicle at Liberty Subaru and I can not even use the car as I can't get it licensed for road use in my state. To say this is a disappointing is an understatement. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS DEALERSHIP. Liberty Auto Subaru, do what's right and come pick up this vehicle and give me my money back. I have filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office and I will be referring this over to my attorney. I am pretty disappointed in this dealership as a whole. The buying experience was flawless, fantastic sales and office staff at the beginning. Then it went sideways quickly. I bought a vehicle for my 16yr old, paid cash. The date was October 3, 2024, today is May 13, 2025 and I still don't have the title for it. I was an out of state buyer so here I sit with a vehicle I can't even license in my state, and my temp tags LONG since expired over 5 months ago. I buy a lot of vehicles, many from out of state, and a few from Illinois so I understand there can be delays with the Illinois DMV.. However, I have called the DMV and was given maximum timeline for 8 weeks for title work to be completed, and less than a week for expedited services. Endless call attempts I have had with the title/documents team, spoken to them 3 times, and they simply won't even return a phone call since the first week of March. Did I buy a stolen vehicle?? This is 100% absurd. My kid has been pulled over 5 times for expired temp tags and no license plates, once it had a boot affixed to in his high school parking lot. I didn't want to blast this company publicly, but I feel this is the only leverage point I have at this stage. Be better Liberty Subaru...

The vehicle I made the appointment to test drive was waiting and ready when I arrived with my wife. The buying process after the test drive was quick and painless. Had a great experience at Liberty Subaru! Website: Their website was excellent — I pretty much knew what I wanted (black on black 2025 Crosstrek, limited trim, 11.6 inch infotainment screen) and found that exact car. I emailed the sales team to see if they can put the car on hold for me as I intended to go in and buy it a few weeks later. Charles: Great, great communicator. Responsive to emails. Really nice and respectful man on the phone and in person. Really makes you feel like you are joining a family —> a Subaru family! Not once did I feel uncomfortable throughout the process. He was kind and we were really impressed with him. Tom Ring: Tom spent a ton of time with my family and I going through all the bells and whistles the new car has — and it has A LOT. It’s certainly overwhelming just how much this car can do and has equipped, but Tom made it pretty fun and really knew his stuff. I am sure it will take awhile to fully get used to and understand the infotainment system, but I know I can contact Tom and Liberty Subaru if I have any questions. Dealership in general: Really clean and modern. The facility is beautiful. The technology from signing e-contracts and beyond is mesmerizing. It’s just a cool place to be. Thanks Liberty Subaru team! I love my new car!
I just bought my first Subaru at Liberty Subaru in Libertyville this week, and I can’t recommend them enough. Charles, the salesperson, actually came in on his day off to show me a car. The whole experience was nothing like a typical car dealership—there was zero pressure and no shady sales tactics. Rich, the sales manager, was able to get me the best possible deal on my car. Both he and Charles were upfront and honest with me. Thanks again for a great car-buying experience!
***UPDATE*** 5/12/2025 The BBB has advised Liberty Auto City claimed I wasn't a customer and my review shouldn't be posted. Their website boasts about being "a company since 1965, family owned and operated," but my experience is contrary to caring about customer experience. ***UPDATE*** 4/1/2025 Spoke with manager, they say they weren't the owner when I brought in my car so they're not responsible. Same name, same location, same customers but not responsible. I wouldn't recommend to anyone a place you go to and they break your car and won't fix it. ***Original Review*** 3/15/2025 Terrible company. I took my Jeep Grand Cherokee here for an oil change and they called me to tell me the door was broken. I got there and the manager told me I must have driven in that way. The driver's door wouldn't even close. Now I couldn't drive it without air rushing in, door open chimes constantly ringing, error lights flashing on the dashboard, holding the door from opening at every turn. It was a mess. Maaco fixed the problem for $887 but Liberty wanted said the hinges were "tired". They wanted to charge me $3000 for a new door. The Liberty manager said they wouldn't pay for damage, said I was "crazy."
Brian in service is always friendly and makes sure even when I do not have an appt I get my vehicle serviced quickly. Always appreciate him!
